Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

Introduction

The Unplugged project is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our website and services.

Information We Collect

Story Submissions

When you submit a story, we collect the content you provide, your age range (optional), country (optional), and whether you wish to remain anonymous. We also require explicit consent for publishing your story and any associated images.

Your privacy

The Social Media and Internet Use self-checks calculate scores entirely in your browser. Answers and results are held in this tab's session storage, with memory-only operation if storage is unavailable. No demographic details are requested, and no answers or results are sent to the website, analytics providers, or an email service. You can clear the answers at any time. Older quiz records already collected before this change remain subject to the existing retention policy.

Contact Form Data

When you contact us, we collect your name, email address, and message content to respond to your inquiry.

Analytics and Cookies (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with consent mode v2 to analyze website usage and improve user experience. GA4 only activates after you explicitly consent through our cookie consent banner.

Data collected by GA4 (only with your consent):

  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • Time spent on pages
  • Device type and browser information
  • Geographic location (country/city level)
  • Referral sources
  • User interactions (downloads, form submissions)

Cookies used:

  • _ga (2 years) - Distinguishes unique users
  • _ga_* (2 years) - Persists session state
  • _gid (24 hours) - Distinguishes users

All data is collected anonymously with IP anonymization enabled. We do not allow Google Signals or ad personalization. You can opt-out anytime through our Cookie Policy page or by withdrawing consent in your browser settings.

How We Use Your Information

  • To display submitted stories on our website (with your consent)
  • To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
  • To generate anonymous analytics and improve our services (only with analytics consent)
  • To understand how visitors use our website and which resources are most helpful
  • To comply with legal obligations and Erasmus+ reporting requirements

Data Processors: We use Google LLC (USA) as a data processor for analytics. Data transfers to the US are covered by adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses.

Data for Minors

We take special care with data from young people under 18. Story submissions from minors require parental or guardian consent. We recommend that young people discuss their participation with a trusted adult before submitting content.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to data processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact section.

Data Retention

We retain personal data for the duration of the project and up to 5 years after project completion, as required by Erasmus+ regulations. After this period, data will be anonymized or deleted unless you request earlier deletion.

Contact Us

For questions about this Privacy Policy or to exercise your data rights, please contact us through our contact form or email us at privacy@unpluggedlife.eu
